SHELLY BARON was raised by loving parents and devoutly Orthodox Jewish grandparents in Brooklyn, New York. STEVE BUELOW is a pastor’s son who was raised in a Midwest Christian home from birth. In one form or another, each have had their lives, and the lives of others that they loved, affected by addiction. Both found their answer in a 2000 year-old story told by Jesus Christ.

SHELLY BARON was a nationally and internationally recognized expert on identifying and overcoming the disease of addiction.
In private practice for more than 40 years, Shelly successfully treated over 9000 patients and their loved ones with a comprehensive and unique approach that guided families safely through the minefield of recovery and eliminated the critical mistakes often made in the highly-charged environments surrounding addiction.
Despite having had all the advantages growing up, Shelly nevertheless became an addict. He was raised in a good home with loving parents and grandparents. He had a fine education that included a business degree from New York University. He served our country in the United States Air Force, and gained substantial recognition as a partner in a successful Manhattan advertising firm. Yet, his life spiraled out of control.
By the age of thirty-seven, the partnership at his ad agency was over. His first wife had left him– as had his second– and his children barely knew him. His hands and body were misshapen from rheumatoid arthritis– a result of his addictions. He had also lost all of his hair. Drinking and drugging were part of daily life and he also struggled with food addiction and gambling. One hundred eighty-three pounds heavier than he is today and smoking up to one hundred cigarettes every day, his liver and kidneys were diseased.
That year was 1968. Shelly was examined by four teams of doctors– and given just six months to live. It would take a Samaritan to save his life– and that is exactly what he received.
40+ years later, Shelly practiced and resided in beautiful Boca Raton, Florida and maintained a successful telepractice for those who needed his help from a distance.
He was an active member in his community and in his church where he daily proclaimed God’s goodness, generosity and healing to those victims and families who were seeking true recovery from addiction.
